At MDC, we are tasked to protect and manage the fish, forest and wildlife resources of the state. Within Resource Management, we hire a multitude of wildlife biologists, fisheries biologists and foresters who implement and carry out conservation efforts across the state. These efforts range from habitat management, animal and plant population surveys, fish population evaluation and ecological restoration. Resource Management team members work closely on area plans and provide guidance to private landowners and public organizations on habitat management. Staff within this arena demonstrate a strong knowledge of their area of expertise and often provide conservation programs to local civic groups, schools and conservation organizations.

Resource Management houses positions such as Forestry/Wildlife Crew leaders, Wildlife Biologists, Fisheries Biologists, Hatchery Managers, Community Foresters, Private Land Conservationist, Resource Foresters and more. Differing levels of resource management experience and education may be required, varying from general labor and/or farming experience with a high school diploma up to a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree.
