Summary/Objective

To maintain a safe shooting environment for range visitors.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assists with checking in and providing new shooters instructions and answers questions from the public.
  • Responsible for public safety while walking the Rifle/Pistol Ranges and Shotgun Range.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment necessary to operate the ranges.
  • Conducts or assists with special events and programs as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D./HiSET equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and other entities at all levels.
  • Ability to accept job responsibilities/tasks assigned for self and others and ensures high quality programs/services are delivered and effective controls are developed to maintain the Division and Department’s integrity.

Work Environment

  • Work varying shifts and hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Conduct satisfactory working independently and with a team.
  • Frequently work in outdoor environments.
  • Occasionally work in varying, inclement outdoor weather.

Physical Abilities

  • Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Multi-tasking in an office environment, often sitting for long periods at a time.
  • Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, correctly lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy. 

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
