Summary/Objective

Provide data entry support and service to the Social Science Program for public opinion surveys and a variety of conservation research and management efforts.

Essential Job Duties

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail related to public opinion surveys.
  • Sort, organize, scan, and code surveys in preparation for data entry and data verification of public opinion surveys.
  • Assist with survey reviews, supply inventories and delivery, record keeping, and data management.
  • Assist with qualitative data collection by processing public comments from open comment periods.
  • Assist biologists with data entry to meet research and management objectives.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of research or administrative experience.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
  • Some secondary education in natural resources, human dimensions, or computer science would be helpful for this position and is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, multi-line phone system, fax machine, scanner, and computer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and ability to learn Microsoft Teams and other software as needed.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Physical Abilities

  • Remain in a stationary position 70% of the time.
  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Exemption Status/Special Notes

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy. 

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
