Summary/Objective

  • Assist in the implementation and functioning of the Migratory Game Bird Program.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform advanced wetland and remote sensing data organization and analysis using ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, Python, etc.
  • Prepare reports summarizing data analysis and results using data visualization
  • Organize and monitor supplies and equipment, including bands and field supplies
  • Enter and organize data related to wildlife monitoring and banding
  • Assist with the capture and banding of migratory game birds as needed
  • Interact and collaborate with wetland managers, wildlife biologists, other scientists, and landowners to gather information related to wildlife monitoring and banding

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Conduct other field work and tasks as requested by the Migratory Game Bird Coordinator

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Science, Forestry, Agriculture, or related.
  • At least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in Wildlife, Forestry or Fisheries work.
  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with ArcGIS software, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Ability to use a GPS, map, and navigate in the field.
  • Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Abitliy to work independently and responsibly.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to a variety of job situations involving long hours, hazardous conditions and difficult circumstances.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight.
  • Ability to work varying hours and shifts.
  • Abitliy to operate 4WD, ½-ton truck.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Occasionally perform outdoors where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.

Physical Abilities

  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
  • Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
