Summary/Objective

Assist the Resource Analyst with survey tasks including, but not limited to, processing mail, data entry, draft protocols, recordkeeping, and survey design. Additionally, this position supervises the daily tasks of up to four (4) other hourly, part-time positions (data entry technicians).

Essential Job Duties

  • Deliver and pick-up survey or cover letter templates, survey or cover letter proofs, and finished survey materials to/from OA Document Solutions, MDC Distribution/Print Shop, MDC Headquarters, mailing service provider, USDA, USPS, and Resource Analyst as needed.
  • Deliver checks to mailing service provider, USDA, and USPS for rendered services as needed.
  • Sort, process, and document mail items returned to the Social Science Program, including identifying and readdressing surveys with a change of address label.
  • Unfold, batch, and otherwise prepare returned surveys for data entry and verification by the team.
  • Draft, edit, and update protocols to guide task completion by the Survey Shop team. Protocols include, but are not limited to mail sorting and processing, survey data entry and verification, and other tasks.
  • Lead and direct Survey Shop team daily tasks and priorities.
  • Train other team members on written protocols for Survey Shop tasks, including sorting/processing mail, batching surveys, and data entry and verification.
  • Maintain Survey Shop organization by keeping individual project materials and supplies separate, well-ordered, and easy to find.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Assist with data coding, data entry, and data verification of surveys on an as needed basis.
  • Conduct material inventory counts.
  • Return surplus USPS mail trays.
  • Assist Resource Analyst with hiring process and decision as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED/HiSET required.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant professional experience.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use office equipment, including but not limited to, printer/copier, multi-line phone system, fax machine, scanner, and computer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Access and the ability to work with a variety of software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Physical Abilities

  • Remain in a stationary position 70% or more of the time.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
