Provide support and customer service for trainings and events. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist Education Coordinator with programs and presentations.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies.
  • Interact with public during training events and activities.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly learning environment.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D./HiSET equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use office equipment, such as computer, calculator, camera, scanner and printer
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Work Environment

  • Frequently work in a standard office environment.
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather and/or in an office setting

Physical Abilities

  • Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Multi-tasking in an office environment, often sitting for long periods at a time.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pay- $15.56 per hour. This position will work between 16-32 hours per week. Actual hours will fluctuate with seasons, program schedules and other factors.
• Assists with signing in and out shooters, collecting fees, providing instructions to new shooters and answering questions from the public.
• Responsible for public safety while walking the Rifle/Pistol Ranges, Trap/Skeet Fields and Patterning Range, checking for safe firearm control, proper ammunition and other rules and regulations.
• Maintains and repairs equipment necessary to operate the ranges, including; Trap/Skeet machines, target stands, archery targets, etc.
• Maintains and repairs facility/property, including; boundary fencing, weed eating, mowing, spraying for weeds, snow removal, etc.;
• Conducts or assists with special events and programs, including; Hunter Education, High School Groups, Beginning Rifle, Shotgun, Handgun, Archery, Atlatl and other outdoor related programs.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and one (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The selected individual must have a flexible schedule, be able to work weekdays, evenings and weekends, as well as work in a variety of weather conditions.

Exemption Status/Special Notes

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy. 

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
