Summary/Objective
Lead the development and implementation of effective media and communication strategies.
Essential Job Duties
- Create internal and external communications, including employee communications, talking points, short and long-term communication plans, crisis communications, media training, community presentations, etc.
- Build and sustain media relationships and vendor contacts.
- Assist with social media planning and content coordination on conservation priorities.
- Coordinate activities between digital and traditional communications teams.
- Recruit, hire, review, schedule, and supervise the daily activities of staff.
- Provide training and guidance and ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures.
- Develop annual budget and monitor spending compliance.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing, English, Communications, or related field.
- At least five (5) years professional experience in journalism, public administration, marketing, English, and communication with two (2) years in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity preferred.
- Alternatively, a Master’s Degree and at least four (4) years professional experience.
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

- Ability to travel and stay overnight.
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours, as needed

- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Physical Abilities
- Regularly remain in a stationary position.
- Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
- Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
- Regularly lift up to 10 pounds, correctly lift up to 25 pounds.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Exemption Status/Special Notes
This position has been determined to be Exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
