Summary/Objective
Review projects and provide information on endangered, and other species and natural communities, public lands and other priority natural resources.
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct computer/ArcGIS reviews to evaluate sensitive animal, plant, community, public lands and other information to identify possible and probable impacts of construction and development project activities.
- Develop, prepare, deliver, and compile written responses and recommendations to requests from various internal and external stakeholders.
- Review applications for wildlife collector permits and maintain thorough database.
- Serve as primary Department contact for information, instruction, troubleshooting and training within the website and users.
- Approve website enhancements, ensuring accuracy of updated data.
- Collaborate to create, update, and distribute Best Management Practices (BMPs).
Ancillary Job Duties
- Assist other Resource Scientists as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Botany, Forestry, Zoology or closely related field.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in scientific research, fisheries or wildlife management
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, multi-line phone system, fax machine, scanner, and computer.
- Ability to operate a 4WD truck and an all-terrain vehicle.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced wildlife science and regulation knowledge.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight.
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Occasionally perform outdoors where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist.
Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position 70% of the time.
- Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
- Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Exemption Status/Special Notes
This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
