Summary/Objective

Primary responsibility is a focus on the implementation of the Missouri Outdoor Recreation Access Program (MRAP).

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist MDC and Partner field staff in the evaluation of potential MRAP properties.
  • Coordinate MRAP application and contract development.
  • Lead the MRAP field resource technicians in the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of MRAP property boundary signage and bulletin boards, and monitor properties for compliance.
  • Promote MRAP program via social media, newsletters, mailings, presentations, and others forms of communication.
  • Develop MRAP property maps, brochures, fliers, and presentations as needed.
  • Perform inspections and on-site visits and answer customer questions via telephone, email, and in-person discussion.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on MRAP as required.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, agencies, and partners.
  • Monitor spending in alignment with annual budget.
  • Administer MRAP cost share program to assist landowners with funding conservation projects.
  • Install and maintain property boundary signage and bulletin boards and stock MRAP survey card boxes as needed.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Complete purchase logs and expense reimbursement forms.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.
  • Experience with and knowledge of ArcMap or other GIS software programs is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management, Forestry, Biological Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Agriculture or related field
  • One or more years of experience in natural resources management or equivalent is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable software, including ArcMap GIS software and GPS.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions and act quickly and decisively on the determined course of action.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and enjoy working in outdoors.
  • Ability to operate All-terrain (ATV) and/or Utility terrain vehicle (UTV).
  • Ability to navigate off-road using aerial imagery maps.
  • Ability to regularly use Microsoft Office products and office equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to operate tools such as power drills, post-hole diggers, hammers, and saws.
  • Ability to infrequently travel long hours and overnight including some weekends and holidays.
  • Possess good time management and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
  • Regularly work in a standard office environment.
  • Occasionally perform in outdoor weather where hot, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions are possible.
  • Occasionally travel long distances.

Physical Abilities

  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Regularly lift up to 10 pounds, correctly lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy. 

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
