Summary/Objective

Provide assistance with statewide monitoring of Missouri Outdoor Recreational Access Program (MRAP) properties.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform assigned duties associated with MRAP involving routine area checks.
  • Regularly travel to monitor MRAP properties across the state including frequent overnight travel.
  • Install and maintain property boundary signage and bulletin boards and stock MRAP survey card boxes.
  • Perform inspection and provide general vegetation maintenance, including trimming around bulletin boards and along trails, and trash removal.
  • Administrative duties, such as invoice processing, activity reporting, and data entry.
  • Answer questions from the public on area regulations and the MRAP program.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment for building and land management.
  • Ability to use office equipment, such as computer, calculator, camera, scanner and printer.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Operate on-road and off-road department vehicles for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to navigate off-road using aerial imagery maps.
  • Experience pulling trailers is helpful.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and enjoy working in outdoors.
  • Ability to operate ATV's, UTV's, trucks with trailers, and power tools.

Work Environment

  • Frequently work in outdoor weather.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather which may be hot, cold, wet, or humid.

Physical Abilities

  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, and three-dimensional vision
  • Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
