Summary/Objective

Receive, send and log incoming and outgoing freight to and from the Department.

Essential Job Duties

  • Fulfill and package all orders for paid publications and Stream Team program members.
  • Tracking of inventory for both paid publications and Stream Team products.
  • Process and ship orders via USPS and UPS.
  • Store materials in designated locations and update inventory database.
  • Assist with Print Shop machinery operations.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Unload tractor trailers and compare received items to shipping manifest.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in warehouse management and/or forklift operation preferred.
  • Forklift certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, phone, fax machine, scanner, and computer.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other warehouse related equipment
  • Knowledge of postal regulations and procedures.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department employees and the general public.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work Environment

  • Regularly work in a standard warehouse environment; Occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.

Physical Abilities

  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently operate tools and heavy equipment safely.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds, correctly lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy. 

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
