Summary/Objective

Responsible for safe shooting range operations, facility maintenance, public program facilitation, and assisting the public.

Essential Job Duties

  • Sign in shooters, collect fees, provide instructions, monitor firing line for safety, and answer questions from the public.
  • Assist with conservation events, shooting sports programs, Hunters Education courses, and other programs as assigned.
  • Maintain facilities and repair all necessary equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly learning environment.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D./HiSET equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use office equipment, such as computer, calculator, camera, scanner and printer
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment for building and land management.
  • Experience with firearms, archery, hunting, and shooting sports preferred.

Work Environment

  • Frequently work in a standard office environment.
  • Frequently work in outdoor weather and/or in an office setting
  • Frequently exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Regularly life up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
