Summary/Objective

Build and maintain infrastructure to ensure safe and well maintained public use areas.

Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain facilities and grounds infrastructure, including painting, carpentry and construction.
  • Assist Lead Carpenter & Carpenter with projects & daily duties. 
  • Complete new construction projects by completing bids, assigning tasks and monitoring timesheets, progress, budgets, etc.
  • Address all other repair or maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and operate all hand tools and power tools.
  • Order tools and other inventory supplies, as needed.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties regarding maintenance needs and project status, by phone, email and in-person discussions.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in general carpentry and building construction work.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and construction knowledge.
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled work in building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical trades.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally work in confined spaces, and in high places, requiring the use of lift devices.
  • Frequently exposed to vibration and loud noises associated with power tools requiring hearing protection.
  • Occasionally exposed to oils, chemicals and airborne particles which may require the use of a respirator and to electrical hazards requiring proper specific safety procedures.
  • Regularly work in outdoor environments where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist.

Physical Abilities

  • Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Regularly operate tools and other machinery and relocate machinery to other areas.
  • Frequently ascends/descends a ladder whilst working.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequently lift up to 75 pounds, correctly lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Concentrated attention is required at all times.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
