Summary/Objective
Coordinate the regional recreational use operations on Department owned lands.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage and oversee existing programs and future opportunities for recreational use operations on Department owned lands.
- Plan and review current guidelines/policies.
- Participate in the area planning process to incorporate recreational uses into area plans.
- Coordinate and deliver training for regional staff to implement best practices to maintain or construct public use infrastructure on the region.
- Engage citizens, special use groups, and area administrators to understand current and desired recreational use in the region.
- Work with infrastructure management supervisor and regional staff to evaluate and prioritize current and future recreational use infrastructure needs on the region.
- Coordinate with staff to determine public use priority areas throughout the state. Develop a regional recreational plan to identify and prioritize public use opportunities.
- Work with staff to communicate recreational use opportunities on Department lands to the public.
- Coordinate and manage special and commercial use requests on the region.
- Partner with recreational use groups by attending meetings and events.
Ancillary Job Duties
- Coordinate planning and expenditure of funds for expense, equipment and hourly labor for recreation use projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources, Parks, Recreation and Tourism or related field.
- At least three (3) years of related professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, multi-line phone system, fax machine, scanner, and computer.
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, Excel, Arc-Map GIS, and WebEx.
- Ability to make travel arrangements, in-state and out-of-state.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and facilitate meetings and events.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with internal and external customers.
- Ability to develop and administer contracts, agreements and easements.
- Ability to plan, design, implement and evaluate engineering, fisheries, wildlife, and/or forestry management projects.
- Budget development and implementation
- Knowledge of rules and policies including Missouri revised statutes, the state legislative process, and cost-share programs.
- Ability to make independent decisions and act quickly and decisively on the determined course of action.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships.
Work Environment
- Regularly travel in closed vehicle.
- Regularly work in a standard office environment.
- May be exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
Physical Abilities
- Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
- Concentrated attention is required at all times.

Exemption Status/Special Notes
This position has been determined to be Exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.
Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.
